Here, Possibly There
Aug. 9th, 2023 05:30 amBack from Gencon, it was fun. I have a TON of work to catch up on though and I am exhausted. I feel like I am generally not as excited about tabletop as I used to be but I still like seeing all my friends and wandering around (I did buy a couple RPG books anyway). A lot of the seminars and such that used to be free were inexplicably now paid, though, and sometimes were actually kind of comically expensive (sorry I'm not paying $34 to go to a lecture on how to make better DnD villains), so I didn't go to nearly as many events as I usually do.
The big thing was the d20 Burlesque show, which we go to every year, and it was fantastic as always, but this year they had a performer dressed as Lady Dimitrescu who lactated blood into a wine glass and drank it, which was extra special. Sometimes the sheer imagination of horny queer women brings a tear to my eye. There was also a Link routine with a retro costume that was, hilariously, almost game-accurate to A Link To The Past, where Link is clearly not wearing pants and is only questionably wearing underwear (here's a good example, I think we need to go back to this Link design honestly).
The stage manager was a person from the local kink scene whom I have ghosted several times though, so. You know, there's that residual guilt. (I keep showing up to meetups every few months and then not responding to anything in between because I'm bad at things).
Thee number of cool dice available has increased dramatically but they are almost all sold in polyhedral sets these days, which is quite frustrating for those of us who do not really play DnD (it's been almost a decade since the last time for me), but I did manage to find an appropriate d10 set for my current Exalted character (Lan Thousand-Thoughts, a sloth-totem Lunar, whom I love).
